I am Fredcat the Famous and I am so cool

Mr. B reckons I have it too good!

Welcome to the story of my early days

This is how it all began
Fredcat settled on a chair in Sussex

Yes, we are moving again, said Mr. B.

I was born in Lancashire, England, in 1989. Ish. My ancestry is obscure, by which I mean that nobody knows who my parents were or even where I was born. I probably had siblings but if they are alive they would all still be living in and around Lancashire.

Soon after my birth I was taken (or possibly made my own way towards - such is my famous personality and charm) to the Freshfields Animal Rescue Centre in Ince Blundell, a place where lost and unwanted kittens and cats are taken in their hour of need. It was from there that I was taken to my new home. I nearly didn't make the journey because another kitten caught my mistress' eye, but, alas for him, he was too sickly to make the journey and so had to be replaced - by yours truly. What an escape!!

I often wonder what my mother, father and siblings looked like. I am a ginger and white cat, with a truly magnificent white blaze on my front which never looks mucky no matter what I get up to. I have "Sergeant Major" stripes down my arms - some folks call these paws or legs but I know differently - although I really should educate people to recognise true officer class when they see it. Everyone, be they human or cat, likes to know something about their past but I have overcome that small problem by just becoming a celebrity, knowing that out there somewhere there are relatives of mine striving to join the ranks of the truly famous.

I assume that I was born in a nice house to an understanding mother because she clearly raised me properly for some weeks before some fate befell the two of us and caused us to part. My bones and constitution were obviously first class since, despite all the trials that I have overcome, my basic strength remains and I am as supreme as ever. My mother must have been a strong cat in her early kittening prime and may therefore have been just a year or so older than me. As I was probably born around October 1989, she might have been born about a year or so earlier, say 1987 or 1988.

Driving to my new home, with my new best human friend Cathie, was not a pleasant experience, as I do not like car travel. Cars are OK to explore; the boot (the car's "trunk", to any American readers) can be quite comfortable (if there are soft clothes lying around) as its enclosed nature produces a warm and comforting feeling. But traveling in any car causes me to object in the way cats know best.

On arrival at my new home I was met by another cat, Forby, but more of him later. He followed me around almost nose to tail for two days whilst I explored my new quarters. This was a tad off-putting, but I have to admit that it was useful to have a "friendly" face around in my early days. And so I settled in and started on my now renowned life as a famous cat. You, gentle reader, will discover just how famous as you read on.
