Fredcat the Famous has decided to create his own website to satisfy the demands of his adoring public. This website has been developed by a supposed good friend of Fredcat's but a suspicion lingers that not all is as it seems. Fredcat was taught by the no less than wonderful Sonia Weimann, a talented web mistress who has her own web site at HTMLTeacher.com, and which is a great instructional site for those interested in creating web pages. Sonia was employed by Wake Technical Community College which allowed Fredcat to sit in on web design courses of an evening when he was sometimes nearly awake. This is a good initiative for the college, and Fredcat says, "Ta!" The true driving force for completing this task is all down to Cathie, his adoring "mum", whose cajoling was essential to its completion. Cathie, indeed, was inspirational in providing much of the information for the development of the individual pages and without her this project would have suffered the usual fate of many male-initiated activates which slowly die a death through inertia. So Fredcat says, "Ta, mum!". Fredcat might refer in his writings to human people and cats that he knows but he has a kind heart and he hopes they do too. So no letters of complaint please! Fredcat was born and raised in England, and speaks UK English most of the time. In due course, I have no doubt that he will start to learn the nuances of the American way of communication but for the moment he will usually spell words the "proper" English way. Fredcat is an advanced cat (and is aware of his notoriety), so he tends to write his life and adventures in modern up-to-the-date Internet Explorer format, rather like his kindred spirit Bill Gates, so some of his more cunning comments may be lost on mortals who use other browsers. Although Fredcat has tried to be PC he hasn't done very well. He has not passed the Bobby test at all, but that's life! Fredcat insisted that his website was to be handcoded wherever possible, which was a bit tedious (especially the headings), and it is always a good idea to keep a cat happy or he will wake you up very, very early in the morning. He also wanted the job done using lower case letters only as XHTML appears to be a tad fussy on this. Fredcat suspects that Mr. B. has been making nasty little comments here and there. He suggests you take no notice of them and just read on to see how famous Fredcat is. Uploading was and is carried out using the CuteFTP programme. This is very quick and easy to do. Fredcat also had a number of very interesting discussions with the good people who man blink earthlink information services and support live chat services. They were very patient with him! Fredcat bought Fredcat.net from GoDaddy who gave him a good deal because he was so famous. Fredcat is rather vain so he asked Extreme Tracking for help in counting the visitors to his site. They were very pleased to help such a famous cat. A helpful hint was obtained from Boutell.com and this was very useful in getting the Fredcat Form page up and running. Many thanks to the Google.com and Google.co.uk people for recognising Fredcat for the famous cat he is. Thank you to John Pollock for his web-based instruction and his helpful book on Javascript: A Beginners's Guide which Fredcat has dipped into for some good ideas on coding in JavaScript. Reference is sometimes made herein by Fredcat to commercial enterprises who sell things, like Sainsburys of England and Whiskas biscuits. Apparently one can even get one's own Felix to walk all over one's desktop, if one so wishes! Fredcat would like to point out that he has no shares in any of these great giants of commerce, they do not provide goods for him and he would not know what to do with them if they did. So don't! He is a truly independent famous cat. Fredcat often listens to the BBC News You, too, might like to partake of this particular activity - there may even be upcoming news of Fredcat's own activities, you never know..... |
